Abstract

Abstract Gu.don.gel'la. N.L. fem. dim. n. Gudongella , referring to Block Gudong, Shengli oilfield in China. Bacillota / Clostridia / Tissierellales / Tissierellaceae / Gudongella The genus Gudongella , which now contains only one species Gudongella oleilytica , is embedded in the Tissierellaceae family, Tissierellales order, and Clostridia class of the Bacillota phylum. Species of the genus Gudongella are rod‐shaped, occur singly, in pairs, or in chains. Cells are 2–4 μm in width and 9–21 μm in length. Gram‐stain‐positive, non‐spore‐forming, anaerobes. Crotonate, methionine, tryptone, and yeast extract are fermented, and arabinose, cellobiose, cysteine, l ‐isoleucine, l ‐threonine, 1,2‐propanediol, and rhamnose are weakly utilized, and glucose, fructose, sucrose, and maltose are not utilized. Requires yeast extract for growth. Mesophilic, growing at 20–45°C, pH 6.5–9.0 (optimum 7.5), and up to 35 g/l NaCl, with preference for no salt addition. Major fatty acids are iso‐C 15:0 and C 14:0 . The genome size is 2.4 Mb, and the G + C content is 42.9%. Known habitats of Gudongella species are bioreactors, petroleum fields, gut and rumen, and freshwater. DNA G + C content (mol%) : 42.9. Type species : Gudongella oleilytica Wu et al. 2020 VP .
