Abstract

A class of steroidal phytohormones known as brassinosteroids (BRs) is crucial for controlling a number of physiological and chemical processes related to plant growth and development. Furthermore, via controlling a range of genes, BRs have been shown in physiological and molecular investigations to have the ability to increase crop production and output. However, in the current situation, a range of abiotic factors serve as significant barriers to crop productivity and output. Additionally, BRs function as safe, nontoxic steroidal chemicals that may be able to modify how plants react to abiotic stressors. They are known to improve the quality and quantity of crop plants when given exogenously at a specific dose and a specific period of plant growth. The current book chapter thus concentrates on the function of BRs in regulating the enzymatic and nonenzymatic antioxidant defense mechanisms of plants under abiotic and biotic stress conditions, taking into account all of these characteristics of BRs.
