Abstract
This chapter presents the anatomy of carpus of the canine. Carpal joint is comprised of three joints, including antebrachiocarpal, middle carpal, and carpometacarpal. It helps the veterinary practitioners to find quick-reference summaries of common rehabilitation conditions, presented in a streamlined format outlining definition, anatomy, epidemiology, etiology and pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostics, and treatment. Common rehabilitation conditions of the carpus include traumatic carpal hyperextension, degenerative carpal hyperextension injury, carpal flexural deformity, angular limb deformity of the carpus, flexor carpi ulnaris tendinopathy, and abductor pollicis longus tenosynovitis. The chapter also helps the veterinary practitioners to find comprehensive ways to track patient progress, including limb circumference, gait analysis, goniometry, weight, pain scale, and functional outcomes. It provides evidence-based instructions for veterinary practitioners at all experience levels.
