Abstract

Cranial cruciate ligament disease is any degree of disruption of the cranial cruciate ligament. The caudal cruciate ligament is an intra-articular ligament that functions to limit internal rotation and caudal drawer. The meniscus is a concave, semilunar C-shaped cartilage that acts as a shock absorber and important stabilizer of the stifle and rests between the femur and the tibia. The meniscus plays an important function in stifle stabilization and proprioception and should not be removed or released if not damaged. Medial patellar luxation is more common than lateral patellar luxation. Growth plate disruption leads to asymmetric chondrocyte activity, resulting in femoral and/or tibial deformities. Introduction of sit to stands too early in recovery may overload patellar tendon and contribute to patellar tendinitis. Gastrocnemius origin injuries is any degree of fiber disruption of the origin of the gastrocnemius muscle.
