History
Abstract
This chapter is a comprehensive and practical guide to developing exercise treatment plans for canine patients. Collection of a comprehensive, mobility-oriented history is a vital first step toward rehabilitation success and client satisfaction. This includes additional details not encompassed in standard physical examination forms; therefore, additional staff training for collection of this information may be necessary. Key components of a complete initial rehabilitation visit include: presenting complaint, diagnosis, surgical history, previous therapies, medications and supplements, diet, activity and exercise, home environment, pain level, comorbidities, and client goals. The chapter provides the evidence-based instructions for veterinary practitioners at all experience levels.
