Abstract

Inoculation theory research has focused on numerous topics and issues in its application, many of which have been introduced and summarized in this book. This chapter focuses on additional significant issues (or topics) that have not received full—or any—attention elsewhere in this book, including abortion, legal defense strategies, animal experimentation, agricultural biotechnology, racism, First Amendment attitudes, and more. Additional issues and topical areas of application are offered as well, including child safety, online behaviors, generative artificial intelligence, and anxiety. A key conclusion of this chapter is that scholars can have confidence that inoculation has established itself as a viable messaging strategy for controversial, contested, debatable issues and topics with decades of supporting research.
