Abstract

The emergence of 6G communication systems has ushered in a new era of wireless communication characterized by extremely high speeds and low latency requirements. There is, therefore, a need for innovative antenna solutions that meet these special requirements. In this sense, flexible and 3D-printed antennas have attracted wide attention due to their adaptability and cost-effectiveness. This study examines the critical role that machine learning (ML) techniques play in advancing the design, optimization, and performance improvement of these antennas for 6G communication systems. The first aspect covered in this study concerns the design and optimization of flexible and 3D-printed antennas using ML-based approaches. Second, ML techniques are used to monitor real-time performance and adapt flexible antennas in dynamic 6G communication environments. The ability to reconfigure antennas on the fly based on changing channel conditions, interference, and user mobility is critical to maintaining high-performance and reliable connections. ML algorithms enable adaptive beamforming, polarization adjustment, and frequency adjustment, ensuring optimal communication quality. This, in turn, leads to higher reliability and efficiency for the antenna. In conclusion, this study highlights the mutually beneficial relationship between ML techniques and flexible 3D-printed antennas in the context of 6G communication systems. The integration of ML-driven design, real-time adaptation, optimization, and fault tolerance promises to usher in a new era of highly efficient, adaptable, and resilient antenna solutions that will be instrumental in meeting the demands.
