Machine Learning–Based Communication and Network Automation
Abstract
Machine learning (ML) has become a disruptive force in network automation and communication in an era of rapid technological innovation. This chapter examines the various ways that machine learning has affected different fields, looking into methods including natural language processing, reinforcement learning, and neural networks. These approaches have transformed spectrum management, wireless channel modeling, interference mitigation, resource allocation, decision-making procedures, and interference reduction, which has improved connectivity and maximized the use of communication resources. The chapter also explores machine learning's application to network automation, where algorithms reduce manual involvement and minimize the possibility of human mistakes by streamlining operations like configuration management, problem detection, and network optimization. Despite these developments, algorithmic biases, data privacy issues, and ethical issues continue to be major obstacles to the implementation of ML-based systems. This has inspired discussions on methods to guarantee the impartial and responsible use of ML technology. The chapter explores the potential applications of ML in network automation and communication, with a view to integrating these technologies with upcoming innovations such as edge computing, 6G, and the Internet of Things (IoT). It is projected that this integration would create a highly flexible and effective network ecosystem, changing the way we interact and oversee networked devices and opening the door to a more intelligent and connected future.
