Abstract

The energy-carbon-environment nexus represents a critical area of study in the context of global sustainability. This chapter explores the intricate relationships between energy production and consumption, carbon emissions, and environmental impacts. It begins by highlighting the societal reliance on diverse energy sources and the resulting carbon footprint, which drives climate change. This chapter delves into the environmental consequences of energy production, including water usage, land degradation, and habitat loss. By examining the carbon intensity of energy sources, strategies for emissions reduction, and policies such as carbon pricing, it underscores the need for integrated approaches to address these challenges. Real-world case studies illustrate how countries and regions navigate the nexus, presenting both successes and obstacles. Finally, this chapter discusses emerging energy technologies, policy recommendations, and the critical role of international cooperation in achieving a sustainable future. This comprehensive analysis aims to provide readers with actionable insights into mitigating the impacts of the energy-carbon-environment nexus.
