Abstract

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges for global societies today. These changes affect the environment and natural resources and significantly affect biodiversity. Variability and climate change lead to the destruction of biodiversity. If species and populations do not have enough time to adapt to the change in climate conditions, they may disappear forever. Species are disappearing at a rate unprecedented in geological history, and most of these extinctions are due to human activities. Biodiversity means the diversity of life on Earth, that is, all organisms, species, populations, genetic differences between them and their ecosystems, and complex communities. Biodiversity also refers to genes, species, and life. On the one hand, ecosystems are interdependent; on the other hand, they interact with the environment. Biodiversity refers to countless types of living organisms. The climate–biodiversity nexus (CBN) highlights the intricate interdependencies between climate systems and biodiversity, emphasizing how changes in one profoundly impact the other. This study explores the bidirectional relationship between climate change and biodiversity loss, focusing on how shifts in climate patterns affect ecosystems, species distributions, and ecological resilience. In contrast, biodiversity changes influence carbon storage, water cycles, and climate regulation. By integrating scientific insights, policy frameworks, and management strategies, the research aims to advance understanding of the CBN and propose actionable solutions for mitigating climate change and conserving biodiversity. The findings underscore the importance of a unified approach to address these interconnected global challenges, promoting sustainability and resilience in natural and human systems.
