Abstract

The global resources nexus (GRN) framework is essential for understanding and managing the complex interdependencies among natural resources, particularly water, energy, and food. This chapter comprehensively analyzes the GRN approach, emphasizing its theoretical foundations, governance challenges, and policy implications. It examines the interconnected nature of resource systems and highlights the trade-offs and synergies that arise in the context of climate change, sustainability, and global development goals. This chapter investigates governance frameworks, policy integration strategies, and technological innovations, including renewable energy, water-efficient irrigation, and circular economy principles, contributing to sustainable resource management. Case studies elucidate the challenges and opportunities of applying the nexus approach to diverse socioeconomic and environmental contexts. This chapter concludes by delineating future perspectives on enhancing the resilience and sustainability of the GRN and emphasizing the necessity for interdisciplinary research, adaptive governance, and public engagement. These insights provide valuable guidance for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners working toward integrated resource management and sustainable development.
