Abstract

This chapter explores the intricate interactions between human societies, ecological systems, and climate change, recognizing the interconnectedness of these systems. It introduces the “nexus” framework to highlight their interdependence. The chapter examines various nexuses, including the water-energy-food nexus (WEFN), the water-food-environment nexus (WFEN), and the water-energy-environment nexus (WEEN). However, the primary focus is on the Climate-Socio-Ecological Nexus (CSE Nexus), which emphasizes the dynamic and reciprocal relationships between climate, social systems, and ecological systems. Key concepts are defined, and the chapter thoroughly investigates the impacts of human activities on ecosystems. Additionally, it critically addresses the challenges and opportunities associated with managing these interconnected systems to ensure a sustainable future.
