Abstract

The digitalization of agriculture brings a double-edged sword opportunity— improving productivity, traceability, and resilience while exposing stakeholders to serious issues relating to data governance, privacy, and cybersecurity at the same time. This review consolidates findings from 24 recent studies on the policy, technical, ethical, and security implications of digital agriculture. The books point to dominant trends in data governance architectures progressive cybersecurity threats and countermeasures and convergence of forthcoming technologies such as AI, blockchain, and IoT to protect agri-data systems). Of particular interest, several studies highlight sociopolitical processes, farmers’ data sovereignty, and the need for rapid participatory and open policy formulation. Some conceptual frameworks and regional applications are suggested to support safe and inclusive digital farming approaches, particularly in small-scale and climate-exposed contexts 2024). With agricultural systems increasingly dependent on digital technology, there is an emerging need for intersectoral approaches that balance innovation with strong security, equal access, and sound data use ethics.
