Abstract

Chronic disease is a disease that can be managed or controlled but cannot be cured. The introduction and advancement of wearable technologies are viewed as a significant potential for managing patients with chronic conditions, as wearable devices provide real-time data. The applications of wearable devices are extensive and diverse: they can monitor heart rate, steps taken, sleep patterns, and other vital signs, enabling the users to track their fitness goals. This wearable technology is helpful as it gives the power to monitor our fitness level and track our location using GPS. This data can further be used to find patterns and prevent disease outbreaks. Despite these many benefits, wearable devices have some challenges to face like privacy and data security, comfort, accuracy and reliability, battery power, etc. According to the development of wearable devices in recent years, this paper summarizes the role of wearable devices, the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning with wearable devices, different wearable electronic devices, the advantages of wearable devices, challenges faced by wearable devices, and the future of wearable devices in the healthcare sector. Wearable devices are transforming the way people interact with technology. As the advancement takes place in wearable technology, we will be able to address the challenges related to data privacy, usability, and sustainability and we will be able to fully utilize the potential of wearable device technology.
