Abstract

These emissions are more significant owing to the use of fossil fuels for transportation. By considering population growth and environmental concerns, an efficient model of an electric vehicle (EV) smart charging system is proposed in this chapter with the integration of renewable energy sources (RES) in distribution networks. The existing EV charger related to the power demand profile was modified to enhance the efficiency of the charger. Two different cases were studied to understand the impacts of RES penetration and the smart-charging capacity of EVs. The optimization of EVs without the injection of RES evolved in case one. In case two, the RES was injected into the EVs. The IEEE 33 bus system was used for the implementation of the proposed method.
