Abstract

The STEEPLE framework can seem overwhelming, especially if one recognizes that the list of categories—social, technological, economic, environmental, political, legal, and ethical—can easily be expanded. Not every trend deserves immediate change or action. It's up to the leader and the leadership team to decide if a particular trend requires immediate change or careful observation, or if it's something one can resist and ignore. When examining the trends or are looking at others, assess each one using these three responses: adapt, pause and push back. The Eight Laws of Employee Experience, enduring truths that will challenge and push the organization to be future-ready. These Eight Laws are: decode the human signal; act with empathetic excellence; grow or go; design for flexibility; make people the first principle; lead like the experience starts with leader; use technology to amplify humanity; and run culture like an operating system.
