Abstract

Henry Ford not only wanted the loyalty of his employees and their hard work, he wanted to know how they were living. Decoding the human signal is about knowing people, and today it's much easier to implement this law. The heart of the employee experience is knowing the people. The idea of knowing the people predates the Industrial Revolution. The PACT Framework stands for personal values and motivations, aspirations and growth, circumstances, and talents and work preferences. These are the core elements of decoding the human signal. This chapter introduces the six evolving employee archetypes. They are the overwhelmed caregiver, the aspiring climber, the quiet contributor, the independent expert, the purpose seeker, and the skeptical veteran. These six archetypes are not just profiles; they are signals. The chapter focuses on leader accountability and employee accountability.
