Abstract

The central idea of this chapter is that technology, when used thoughtfully, amplifies humanity. The evolution of work has not been linear; it's been a series of leaps, each shaped by the tools, data, and mindsets that were prevalent at the time. The chapter discusses the following five eras of employee experience: the era of assumption, the era of static feedback, the era of signals, the era of synthesis, and the era of intelligent experience. In the era of intelligent experience, technology doesn't just amplify humanity; it adapts to it. It's in these three areas of insight, connection, and enablement where technology truly has the potential to amplify humanity. Leaders who successfully leverage technology for enablement will cultivate a truly future-ready workplace. The big difference here is that, in the past, technology enabled employees to do more, but in the future, technology will enable all of us to become more.
