Abstract

For a long time, algae were considered a serious problem for human life and were often referred to as seaweed or frog spittle. However, with advancements in research, the value of algae has become well understood. They contribute to generating half of the oxygen in the world. Increasingly, algae are becoming significant in a number of areas, including potential food supplies, medicine, cosmetics, fertilizers, and more. They are also key indicators of environmental changes. Algae are currently being used to synthesize nanoparticles, which hold great promise for next-generation medical treatment. This chapter specifically highlights the current and future aspects of algae, with a special focus on nanoparticles, their green synthesis, applications, and future perspectives.
