Nanocatalysts for Chemical Processes
Abstract
Nanocatalysis has revolutionized chemical processes for biodiesel production, biomass utilization, electrosynthesis, air and water pollution control, hydrogen production, and several other applications. This study covers recent nanocatalytic material advances and their wide applications in numerous major sectors. The paper begins with nanocatalysis basics and its role in improving reaction kinetics and selectivity. It focuses on nanocatalyst creation and characterization using metal nanoparticles, metal oxides, and other novel nanostructures. In biodiesel manufacturing and biomass conversion, nanocatalysts offer cleaner and more sustainable energy applications. The use of nanocatalysts in electrosynthesis processes for value-added chemical production highlights their potential to change chemical transformations. This study also discusses nanocatalysts and nanoadsorbents for air and water pollution reduction. It describes how photocatalytic nanocatalysts degrade pollutants to improve air quality. Additionally, nanocatalysts’ involvement in hydrogen production is highlighted, revealing their ability to unlock hydrogen as a clean and renewable energy carrier. The review of spinel-structured nanocatalysts and their applications is unique. The use of these materials in catalytic processes and their unique structural features demonstrate their potential to change the execution method and space.
