Abstract

High-Speed Machining (HSM) is a new development in machining technology. HSM is a metal-cutting method that prioritizes high feed rates and speeds to increase productivity and improve surface quality. HSM is widely used in the production of dies and molds, precision components, automotive, optical, micromechanical, and household appliances, among other industries. The main purpose of this chapter is to introduce high-speed machining technology. An introduction to HSM covers its definitions, historical evolution, and differences from traditional processing. What follows is an examination of the instrumentation and management system in HSM. The chapter concludes with a summary and future scope.
