Abstract

Once adversary COAs are developed, planners and analysts can collaborate to finalize Prioritized Intelligence Requirements (PIRs). Well-developed PIRs are key to any military decision-making process. This chapter highlights common pitfalls and lays out the PIR development process with repeated emphasis on checks to ensure that the PIRs are actionable, feasible, unique, and deliberately linked to a commander's decision points. The chapter underscores the importance of continual refinement of PIRs as threats and operational plans evolve, ensuring that intelligence collection is focused and supports timely, informed decisions.
