Hydrogen Fuel Cells
Abstract
Hydrogen fuel cells are a pioneering approach for producing energy that is both efficient and pure. The mechanism that yields only heat and water as by-products in these cells can transform the chemical energy into electrical energy from the hydrogen source. Among anode and cathode materials used in chemical reactions are carbon and platinum. Proton conduction is made possible by substances such as solid oxides and proton exchange membranes. Systems for producing, storing, and purifying hydrogen are integral components that ensure a reliable supply of clean hydrogen for fuel cell applications. Fuel cell electric cars provide emission-free transportation. Fuel cells supply primary electricity, backup power, and combined heat and power systems. Fuel cells make it possible to power electronics and gadgets effectively and silently. Compared to traditional combustion-based systems, fuel cells are more efficient. Reliance on fossil fuels will gradually decline as the utilization of hydrogen generation with renewable energy sources increases. Among the barriers to widespread use are the exorbitant costs and limited infrastructure. Materials and production developments in technology: Efficiency will be increased, and costs will be reduced with improved electrolytes, electrode materials, and production techniques. Enhanced development of infrastructure: To meet the growing need, a rising number of infrastructures will be built to create, store, and fuel hydrogen. Combining hydrogen fuel cells with renewable energy sources will result in an efficient and sustainable energy system.
