Abstract

Advaita Vedanta, an ancient Indian philosophy, provides a profound foundation for leadership wisdom by emphasising the interconnectedness of all existence through the concept of Brahman. It distinguishes between intelligence, acquired through education, and intellect, developed through self-inquiry, reasoning and discernment. The Vedantic approach to leadership incorporates four core principles: Atma Bodha (Self-Discovery), Viveka (Discernment), Vairagya (Detachment) and Karma Yoga (Selfless Service), which cultivate wisdom, resilience and ethical decision-making. The philosophy challenges ego-driven leadership, addressing the illusion of separateness or maya, which hinders collaboration and holistic thinking. Through self-inquiry and reflection, leaders develop humility, compassion and an awareness of their interconnected role in society. Vedanta's emphasis on Stith Prajna (absolute stability) and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world as one family) fosters leadership grounded in long-term vision, ethical action and balance. By integrating Vedantic wisdom, leaders can navigate complexity with clarity and purpose, creating sustainable, value-driven organisations.
