Parathyroid Glands

Clinical scenarios involving the medical and surgical management of parathyroid gland disease focusing on the most common oral exam scenarios in general, as well as the most tested topics on the ABS certifying examination. Examples include the workup and management of hyperparathyroidism and parathyroid carcinoma. This chapter will also address issues such as minimally invasive parathyroidectomy versus traditional four-gland exploration as well as parathyroid disease within the context of genetic syndromes, especially Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia.
