Abstract

In order to obtain a uniform dyeing, cellulose fibres must be subjected to a good pretreatment process and cleaned of foreign substances before dyeing. Fabrics made of cellulose fibres are subjected to processes such as singeing, biopolishing, scouring and bleaching before dyeing. In addition, pretreatment processes such as desizing are performed on woven fabrics and mercerisation, especially on quality cotton fabrics. In this section, after explaining the conventional pretreatment processes applied to fabrics made of cellulose fibres before dyeing, brief information is also given about various pretreatments (cationisation, ozone, plasma, etc.) that can be applied to improve or change the dyeing properties of cellulose fibres.
