Dyeing with Reactive Dyes
Abstract
Today, the most commonly used dye group in the dyeing of cellulose fibres is reactive dyes. The most important thing that distinguishes reactive dyes, which are so important in cellulose dyeing, from other dyes is that they contain reactive groups that can react with fibre macromolecules and can chemically bind to the fibres with covalent bonds. As a result, their wet fastness is generally quite good. In this chapter, information is given about the structure and classification, fastness properties and end-uses of reactive dyes, and then how to dye with these dyes according to both exhaust and impregnation methods is explained in detail.
