Abstract

Pain is usually part of a cluster of symptoms, including insomnia, fatigue, and depression, that are intricately linked and frequently co-exist. Interestingly, despite being quite potent drugs for other types of pain, standard of care pain medications such as opioid therapy often are inadequate for cancer-related pain, and patients often wish to avoid these medications as they fear dependence and experience side effects. Suggestions are made for how to manage various types of pain, such as joint pain and neuropathic pain, with complementary therapies.
