Abstract

Boarding school (BS) is a popular alternative for children with academic excellence, whose parents are struggling financially or those who live in rural places, to attain the education for their brighter future. Considering the identical curriculum, teachers, and classroom settings, this study compares the stress levels of day school (DS) and BS students as a powerful research design. In this study, a survey is conducted for BS and DS adolescents between the age group of 14 to 16 years of class 9th and 10th. The questionnaire was prepared with the help of experts containing different stress parameters and the survey was conducted in three schools. In this study, it is observed and the main stressors of adolescents are identified. Further, from this survey analysis steps to overcome stress in daily life of BS and DS students are proposed. This research finds the BS being better than DS by empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools to cope with stress. In fact, the stress level can be identified and appropriate solution provided for mild to moderate level using the cognitive behavioural therapy and mindful meditation. In case of severe stress level counselling with certified clinical psychologist and medical attention may require if physical symptoms are observed. This study, promotes a healthier and more balanced life, ultimately contributing to improved overall well-being and quality of life in adolescents.
