Abstract

In real-time data analytics, automation of insight generation and decision-making has transformed operational activities of different industries. The purpose of this study is to consider prospects and challenges related to real-time analytics, with focus given to recent changes and limitations from more recent developments. One of the key areas of concern is velocity and volume of data, which is also referred to as data creation rate and data generation rate, respectively, as they demand appropriate, simple, and easily scalable management infrastructures. Tools such as Apache Kafka or Apache Flink are important because traditional batch systems do not deal with data floods. Analysis is done almost in real time, which enables businesses to obtain faster insights than before. Achieving sufficiency in latency minimization while maintaining real-time operability is another challenge. Control and security are still primary issues together with data accuracy because erroneous data in a real-time environment can result in catastrophic decision networks if unchecked and will gravely affect decision-making. All in all, the advantages of real-time data processing outweigh the challenges. It makes businesses and other firms responsive to operational changes and volatileness and improves customer service. In the health industry, for example, real-time data may be useful in early disease detection and for creating personalized medicine plans. When handling such sensitive data, privacy and security become critically important. The integrated nature of many real-time systems may prevent certain companies from adopting new technologies. Nonetheless, real-time data capture and data streaming processing, probably beneficial across multiple sectors, should not be overlooked.
