Cognitive Computing and Neurobiology
Abstract
Cognitive computing, alongside neurobiology, offers dynamic new brain health innovations when fused together. Machine learning and data science, as subfields of artificial intelligence (AI), attempt to imitate human thinking processes through data analysis. The ‘neuro’ aspect analyzes the functions and processes that take place within the brain and the nervous system. The integration of these disciplines helps in providing solutions with rapid advancements in the early diagnosis of diseases, morphing refined treatment strategies, and modern therapies for various psychiatric and neurological disorders. In addition, cognitive computing enables new strategies for brain mapping and modeling neural activity. For the first time in history, researchers are able to study complex neural pathways with precision. AI algorithms help in neuroscience by permitting the analysis of enormous datasets and identifying hidden relationships, patterns, and correlations. Developments in machine learning allow AI models to reproduce neural plasticity, flexibility of thought and reasoning, and decision-making that further narrows the boundary between biological and artificial intelligence. This vibrant connection improves not only the scope of neuroscience research but also the creation of sophisticated neuroprosthetic devices, brain-computer interfaces, and tools for mental health supervision based on AI technologies. The aim of this paper is to connect cognitive computing and neurobiology to underscore, at least, the most important aspects of brain health, like achievements, challenges, and prospects.
