Abstract

The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has begun to transform healthcare with physiotherapy being one of the notable fields. Traditional techniques relative to rehabilitation are effective but often tend to be dependent on manual exams, subjective analysis, and ‘one-fit for all’ treatment templates. The application of AI in biomechanical rehabilitation practices seeks to overcome these challenges by providing accurate, data-centered, and hyper-individualized therapeutic solutions. This paper analyzes the future of physiotherapy through AI-powered biomechanical rehabilitation focusing on emerging technologies transforming diagnosis, treatment, as well as patient participation. The application of AI in physiotherapy encompasses a broad range of areas, such as movement analysis using computer vision, real-time feedback via wearable sensors, and modification of treatment using machine-learning algorithms. These instruments provide constant and objective supervision of patients, which ensures that therapeutic protocols can be modified as needed. In addition, AI improves clinical results by enabling the use of predictive analytics that anticipate complications, make early intervention possible, and improve clinical outcomes. AI has transformed remote rehabilitation as well as tele-physiotherapy by providing patients with the care they require while restricting them to the comfort of their homes, all while maintaining high standards of supervision and support. Also, AI-powered robotics and exoskeleton devices are being incorporated into the daily clinical routine for repetitive and specific movements training. These industries combine precision and flexibility, which makes rehabilitation more efficient and focused on results. AI-driven rehabilitation gamification, facilitated through digital platforms, greatly improves patient compliance and motivation. However, the use of AI in physiotherapy comes with a set of critical ethical, technical, and practical concerns. The most immediate issues include data privacy, algorithmic discrimination, and a critical reliance on machines within a human context. Regardless, the ongoing development of AI makes it certain that it will play a crucial role in increasing the efficiency, availability, and customization of physiotherapy.
