Artificial Intelligence‐Driven Flow Optimization for Enhanced Efficiency in Renewable Energy Systems
Abstract
This chapter of the book focuses on how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to optimize flows in renewable energy systems, achieving more efficient, reliable, and coordinated integration across sophisticated electricity grids. In renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, and hydro, energy flow plays a key role in ensuring system stability and resource utilization in the face of environmental changes. Artificial intelligence will mitigate such issues using advanced data-driven techniques, predictive analytics, and real-time decision-making, as explained in the chapter. It focuses, in particular, on machine-learning techniques for energy generation and demand prediction, critical to flow optimization. Neural networks, regression models, and similar techniques apply historical data and weather forecasts to predict changes in energy production and consumption. Getting ahead of the demand enables AI to modify power outputs in real-time to effectively use green energy sources while reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Reinforcement learning for energy storage optimization, which is essential to balance the fluctuations of renewable resources, is also addressed in the chapter. By using algorithms capable of optimizing the charging and discharging process, it is possible to ensure that the device data is updated in real-time, which helps stabilize the grid and reduce energy waste. The chapter also addresses the use of AI with smart grids that process renewable and traditional data sources in real-time to optimize the overall operation. Artificial intelligence-enabled smart grids manage and optimize multiple energy sources in dynamic environments to achieve a more resilient and sustainable energy system. Thus, the work presented in this chapter contributes significantly to the overall broad overview of how AI-driven deterrent measures enhance more sustainable energy management and intervention paths towards a low-emission economy.
