Abstract

This chapter presents the environment of a satellite in Earth orbit and its effects on the physical integrity of the satellite. It discusses the impact that the space environment can have on its operation in light of feedback from previous space missions and simulations conducted. in light of feedback from previous space missions and simulations conducted. FIDES models use physics of failure laws derived from accelerated tests carried out on electronic boards. The chapter introduces the basic elements used to model and simulate the behavior of a CubeSat in order to calculate the probability of failure, analyze its reliability and make corrections before design or during its operational phase. The area in which the Earth's magnetic field is present constitutes the magnetosphere. Plasma is an ionized medium consisting of free electrons and positive ions in equal quantities in terms of electric charge, thus ensuring the electrical neutrality of the medium.
