Abstract

Precision Model 42680 Freeze Point Analyzer uses a sample cell and optical system identical to that of the Model 44668 cloud point analyzer. A sample-recovery system to return waste sample to the process line is recommended. An eductor system should not be used because the spent sample must be discharged from the sample cell at atmospheric pressure. Freeze point analyzers should be installed indoors or in a climate-controlled analyzer building to shelter them from the elements and to facilitate maintenance. Provision should be made to introduce a calibration sample into the analyzer periodically. Since the reproducibility of the process analyzer is much better than that of the ASTM D-2386 laboratory test, the calibration sample should be analyzed four to five times in the laboratory and the results averaged for comparison with the value determined by the analyzer.
