Userkaf
Abstract
Abstract Userkaf was the first ruler of the 5th Dynasty during the Old Kingdom period. Early in his reign, he initiated the construction of his pyramid complex at Saqqara. A separate pyramid and mortuary temple were also built for his wife, Queen Neferhetepes. He also constructed a solar temple, the earliest known in Egyptian history, which serves as evidence of the growing prominence of the cult of Re.
