Next‐Generation Metabolic Flux Analysis Using Machine Learning

Metabolism is a complex, dynamic, and highly regulated network of biochemical reactions. Metabolic fluxes describe the cellular state by imparting knowledge of the rates at which various metabolic pathways operate. Metabolic flux analysis is a hybrid technique that deciphers the dynamics of metabolism experimentally and computationally without complete knowledge of the kinetics and regulation of its constituent reactions. Nonetheless, flux determination using MFA remains challenging. In this chapter, we present an emerging MFA framework that employs deep learning to address some of the challenges associated with flux determination.
