Computer Simulations of Nano‐ and Microgel Systems
Abstract
Computer simulations have become a versatile tool for characterizing colloidal and polymer systems over the last decades. Thanks to the continuously increasing computational powers, the simulations particularly allow studying the nano- and microgel systems of sizes from several nanometers to several microns. Herein, we review the progress achieved in simulations of soft colloids in various environments and spatial scales. In addition, we assess the applicability of different network models for mesoscale studies, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of nano- and microscale approaches and provide examples of multiscale studies available to date.
