Abstract

ABSTRACT With the rapid development of intelligent electronic devices and people's increasing attention to the recycling of equipment, the interest in the application of room‐temperature liquid metals (RTLMs) has significantly increased in recent years. Many advanced manufacturing fields, including electronic engineering, intelligent equipment, and biomedicine, are actively seeking efficient applications that enhance the value of RTLMs, owing to their excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, universal deformation capability, and easy processing and recycling properties. However, due to their large surface tension and poor adhesion, RTLMs are often limited to simple morphology modulation or complex encapsulation substrate fabrication techniques. Attracting more efforts toward achieving the efficient, stable, and green encapsulation of RTLMs with renewable biomacromolecules (including natural polysaccharides, natural polyphenols, and other natural materials) is appealing from a multi‐domain integration perspective. In this review, the routes and mechanisms of encapsulating RTLMs using biomacromolecules are described, their applications in flexible electronics, sensing, and biomedical fields are assessed, and prospects for the development of high‐performance biomacromolecule‐encapsulated room‐temperature liquid metal nanoparticle systems are discussed.
