Abstract

ABSTRACT Primary task of managing lethal traumata is rapid hemostasis with the necessary criteria of blood flow control and positive platelet activation. Herein, inspired by the piezoelectric host‐coupling effect, a domain confined fluid‐solid‐piezoelectricity (F‐S‐P) interaction strategy is proposed. A directional scalariform meta‐aerogel (DSMA), consisted of supramolecular piezoelectric collagen fibrils (PECFs) assembled by the tropocollagen triple helix microfibrils, is designed to construct this interaction between blood flow and material for rapid thrombogenesis and efficient blood coagulation. Biomechanical energy is scavenged and converted into the piezoelectricity to decelerate blood flow. Moreover, platelets are activated by F‐S‐P interaction generated piezoelectric stimulation via Toll‐like receptor, accelerating the coagulation cascade. Compared to commercial collagen sponges, an optimal DSMA demonstrates the remarkable hemostatic efficacies in vitro and in vivo. Shorter clotting time and less blood loss are achieved in lethal trauma hemorrhage models. This hemostatic strategy mediated by F‐S‐P interaction may provide a prospective insight for developing the next‐generation hemostat.
