Reduced‐Reflectance Bionic E‐Skin with Electromagnetic–Environmental–Sensing Integration Enabled by Ni‐Reconstructed Liquid Metal Networks
Abstract
ABSTRACT To address the requirements for multifunctional integration of smart robotic electronic skins in complex electromagnetic, thermal, and humid environments, this work develops a flexible composite elastomer based on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), eutectic gallium indium (EGaIn) liquid metal, and nickel (Ni) nanoparticles. The core innovation is using Ni nanoparticles to regulate prepolymer viscosity and synergistically optimize electromagnetic shielding, mechanical performance, hydrophobicity, thermal conductivity, intelligent response, and circuit writing capability. Ni addition optimizes EGaIn dispersion and reconstructs the internal microstructure, boosting tensile strength by 367% (0.48 to 2.24 MPa) with fracture strain >187% and excellent mechanical reversibility. A magnetic–electric synergistic loss network delivers stable X band electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of 35.1 dB, shifting the mechanism from high reflection to reduced reflection (reflectivity from 11.0 to 5.7 dB). The composite also shows enhanced hydrophobicity (contact angle 68° to 105°) and high thermal conductivity (6.13 W m −1 K −1 ), together with intelligent sensing and surface circuit writing. This single filler regulation strategy enables conductive network reconstruction and multifunctional synergy, offering a materials design route for next‐generation flexible electronic skins adaptable to complex robotic environments.
