Interface‐Induced Stability of Nontrivial Topological Spin Textures: Unveiling Room‐Temperature Hopfions and Skyrmions (Adv. Mater. 1/2026)
Abstract
Nontrivial Topological Spin Textures In their Research Article (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202511754), Ferhat Katmis, Valeria Lauter, Mehmet C. Onbasli, Jagadeesh S. Moodera, and co-workers demonstrate the first room-temperature, zero-field stabilization of interfacial skyrmion lattices encircled by hopfion rings in EuS/Bi2Se3/EuS trilayers. Interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions and geometric confinement enable robust topological spin textures directly imaged by Lorentz TEM and confirmed by micromagnetic models, magnetometry and neutron reflectometry. These findings establish a pathway toward ultralow-power, high-density spintronic technologies based on stable topological information carriers.
