Abstract

Orally Administered Nanoparticle Coacervate The artwork depicts SHIELD, a sucralfate-derived, paste-like nanoparticle coacervate that forms upon contact with gastrointestinal fluid and advances as a continuous mucosal coating. At inflamed, ulcerated villi, embedded cerium oxide (ceria) nanoparticles catalytically quench excess reactive oxygen species (ROS), creating a transient protective barrier. Behind the advancing front, damaged mucosa transitions toward restored architecture. More details can be found in the Research Article by Taeghwan Hyeon, Sang-woo Lee, Sang Ihn Han, and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202514708).
