Antioxidant Proline Carbon Dot‐Composited Poly(L‐methionine) Hydrogel Restores Mitophagy to Alleviate Cellular Senescence in Intervertebral Disc Degeneration (Adv. Mater. 46/2026)
Abstract
Proline Carbon Dot Hydrogel Restores Disc Mitophagy The artwork shows a proline carbon dot-composite hydrogel counteracting oxidative stress-induced senescence of nucleus pulposus cells in intervertebral disc degeneration. It rescues defective mitophagy, rebalances mitochondrial redox, and revives energy metabolism. Like an explorer uncovering buried treasure, damaged mitochondria in degenerated discs are restored to radiant forms, leading to recovered disc height and matrix proteins, symbolizing disc rejuvenation.
