Chloroprene Rubber as An Organic Additive for Biphasic Liquid Metal by the Interfacial Chemical Bonding for the Flexible Sensors
Abstract
ABSTRACT Metal‐polymer composites utilized in Flexible electronics face limitations in manufacturability and recyclability due to the inherent constraints of thermosetting polymers and weak interfacial adhesion. To address this issue, this work develops a thermoplastic 96.1%‐Biphasic liquid metal chloroprene rubber (96.1%‐BLMCR) composite by a scalable mastication‐compounding‐molding process with only 3.9% CR by weight. The 96.1%‐BLMCR exhibits a remarkable electrical conductivity of ((1.05 ± 0.49) × 10 6 S/m) and a Young's modulus of 127 ± 24 m Pa. The interface between BLM and CR is effectively enhanced due to the interfacial chemical bonding between the electronegative Cl atoms in CR and BLM. The mechanical and electrical performance of 96.1%‐BLMCR demonstrates robust environmental resilience, retaining the performance over repeated processing cycles, thermal shocks (30–120°C), and solvent exposure. As a proof of concept, 96.1%‐BLMCR is successfully applied as a wearable sensor for motion detection and as a flexible circuit, demonstrating the potential for scalable production of high‐performance flexible electronics.
