Abstract

Trophic Diversity in Duckweed Framed by the Taiji symbol, a hallmark of Chinese philosophy, duckweed balances heterotrophy (Yin) and photoautotrophy (Yang). Their complementary crosstalk between mitochondria and chloroplasts drives mixotrophy, yielding a synergistic “1 + 1 > 2” boost in carbon use and biomass growth. More details can be found in the Review by Hongwei Hou and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/advs.75665).
