Abstract

A novel sensing strategy using molecular cages in an indicator displacement assay to detect scopolamine, a drug often implicated in drug-facilitated sexual assaults. The mechanism relies on the drug-induced transformation of non-emissive [Fluorescein2⊂Cage] into [Scopolamine⊂Catenane], releasing highly emissive free fluorescein. This turn-on response enables drug detection and quantification via fluorescence spectroscopy. More in the Research Article (e23575) by Ramón Martínez-Máñez, Vicente Martí-Centelles, and co-workers.
