Inside Front Cover: Bimetallic Node Occupied MOF With Glycoside Hydrolase Activity for Efficient Bacterial Biofilm Hydrolysis (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 35/2026)
Abstract
In Research Article e9481237, Wenjing Mu, Han Zuilhof, Xiuguo Wang, and co-workers report a bimetallic UiO-66, wherein Ce and Zr co-occupy the metal nodes, significantly enhancing its Lewis acidity and enabling it to hydrolyze glycosidic molecules. DFT calculations reveal a unique hydrolysis pathway. Its activity toward ester bond cleavage renders it suitable for the degradation of complex polysaccharides in biological systems, demonstrating potential applications in disrupting bacterial biofilms and sterilization.
