Augmenting the Specific Capacitance of PEDOT Using Cd‐ MOF for High‐Performance Supercapacitors
Abstract
ABSTRACT In this study 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) and Cd‐MOF based composites (PEDOT/Cd‐MOF) are prepared by in situ polymerization. Various PEDOT/Cd‐MOF composites are prepared as electrode material for energy storage, by altering the amount of Cd‐MOF. Structural analysis was done by FT‐IR spectroscopy, XRD and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) is used to examine surface morphology. Galvanostatic charge–discharge (GCD), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and cyclic voltammetry (CV) is used to examine the electrochemical properties of the composites. The maximum specific capacitance value of 1344 F g −1 at a 5 mV s −1 scan rate through CV and 1858 F g −1 at a current density of 1 mA cm −2 through GCD in 1 M H 2 SO 4 for PE4.4 composite (weight ratio of EDOT: Cd‐MOF is 92:08). The composites demonstrate high energy density (i.e., 64.54 Wh/kg for PE4.4), good cycle stability, significant specific capacitance make it a viable option for use in energy storage.
