MXene‐based titanium carbide with superior electrochemical performance for supercapacitor electrodes
Abstract
Abstract Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene modified via a hydrothermal etching process was employed as an electrode material for supercapacitors. Unlike the conventional HF‐based method, this study utilized hydrochloric acid (HCl) and lithium fluoride (LiF) as a safer and less hazardous alternative for removing the Al layer from the Ti 3 AlC 2 M n +1 X n T x phase. The crystal structure of Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene remained stable even after delamination. Electrochemical evaluation revealed that the modified MXene electrode exhibited a higher specific capacitance of 274.87 F g −1 compared to previously reported Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene. This study established a relatively safe synthesis route via the LiF/HCl hydrothermal etching method and achieved high specific capacitance and excellent electrochemical stability when applied as a supercapacitor electrode.
